    To make air fryer smashed potatoes, you will need:

    -Potatoes (any type will do) - Choose smaller size potatoes for best results

    -Olive oil

    -Salt

    -Pepper

    -Garlic powder (raw minced garlic) (optional)

    -Parsley or any herbs (optional)

    How to make air fryer smashed potatoes?

    Cook the potatoes

    To make smashed potatoes, first cook potatoes till they are fork-tender. Take smaller size potatoes since they will cook up in less time and also the skin will help hold up the shape.

    Cook the potatoes in a dutch oven, or in an instant pot. You can also microwave the potatoes for 6 minutes depending on the size of the potatoes. But make sure to cook until fork-tender only and not to overcook the potatoes. Else it will fall apart while smashing.

    Once potatoes are cooked, place them on a plate and smash lightly with help of a potato masher or a fork or the bottom of a small bowl. But make sure to put a little pressure only till it cracks. With more pressure, they will break completely and will spoil the dish.

    Prepare herbed seasoning

    To coat the smashed potatoes, use plain butter or seasoned butter. For a strong garlic flavor, add minced garlic preferably or garlic powder, fresh herbs or dried herbs, oregano, salt & pepper.

    Dip a brush in the butter and apply it over the smashed potatoes coating them well. Turn carefully and coat both sides.

    To air fry, preheat the air fryer at 400 F. Arrange the seasoned potatoes carefully in a single layer. Don't overcrowd or avoid overlapping with each other. Cook for 10 minutes flipping the potatoes carefully the halfway. For extra crispiness, add 1 - 2 minutes incremental depending on the doneness you need in the smashed potatoes. Once done remove carefully and serve with your favorite dip or sauces.

    Equipment

    • 1 Dutch oven or Instant Pot
    • 1 Air Fryer
    • 1 Fork or potato masher

    Ingredients
      

    • 1/2 lb potatoes preferably smaller in size
    • 1 cup water to cook potatoes

    Seasonings

    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 1 tsp oregano
    • 1 tsp garlic powder or minced garlic
    • 2 tsp fresh parsley or cilantro leaves finely chopped or dried herbs
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ tsp ground pepper

    Instructions
     

    • Boil potatoes till they are fork-tender.
    • Remove from water and allow them to cool down a little.
    • Press the potatoes lightly with help of a fork or a potato masher.
    • In a bowl add melted butter, garlic, herbs, and seasonigs. Mix them well.
    • With help of a brush apply the seasoned butter over the smashed potatoes. Save some seasoned butter to apply after cooking for better flavor.
    • Preheat the air fryer at 400 F for 3 minutes.
    • Place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket.
    • Cook the smashed potatoes for 10 minutes at 400 F, flipping them carefully the halfways.
    • Once the potatoes are cooked with crsip skin, remove and apply a coating of seasoned butter additionally. However this is optional and can skip this step.
    • Serve immediately with any dips of choice.

    Notes

    Adjust seasonings quantity or herbs as per taste.
