Potato wedges are delicious appetizers and perfect to serve at any parties, game day, or even a light snack at home. In an air fryer, the potato wedges are healthier, quicker yet equally crispy, and delicious.
I often make my potato wedges in the air fryer for the convenience of use and the time it makes a batch. It's especially helpful when we are cooking for small groups or small home parties. In no time a delicious snack is ready to serve. You can also make them as sides too along with your chicken breast or any meals.

Air Fryer Potato Wedges
An air fryer is a smart modern age kitchen gadget that helps in quick cooking. It works like a convection oven but has a compact size and can easily accommodate on the kitchen countertop. It cooks food with hot air which rotates with a high-speed fan inside. This way it cooks food more easily and quickly than any other way like baking.
It cooks the food with very little to no oil also. This way it makes the food delicious without compromising on health as well. These air fryer potato wedges are made with less than 1 tsp oil. Even it's easily made completely oil-free too.

Tips
Make perfectly crispy potato wedges in the air fryer.
1. No need to peel off the skin of potatoes.
2. After cutting the wedges, wash them once or twice to remove excess starch.
3. Soak the wedges in ice water for 20 minutes - 30 minutes to make them crispy.
4. Arrange the wedges in a single layer - Don't overcrowd the basket.
5. Make sure not to overlap the pieces for better and even cooking.
6. Spray oil if not making oil-free wedges. This will give a brown effect on wedges.
7. No need to use parchment paper of foil for this recipe.
8. Add your favorite seasoning to the wedges.
Instructions -
Step 1 - Wash and clean the potatoes thoroughly. Don't peel off the skin. Now cut them into wedges. Place the pieces on a colander and wash once to remove extra starch.
Step 2 - Place the pieces back in a big mixing bowl. Add chilled water and let it sit for 20 - 30 minutes.
Step 3 - Remove the potatoes and wipe with a kitchen towel or paper napkin.
Step 4 - In the meanwhile, preheat the air fryer at 400F for 4 minutes. However, You can skip this step.
Step 5 - Transfer the wedges to a clean and dry mixing bowl. Add seasonings and drizzle a little oil over them. Mix it all.
Step 6 - Place them in the air fryer basket and start at 400 F (200C) for 15 minutes. Pause and shake in the halfway at 7 minutes. Remove once done. And serve hot with your favorite dip.
Note - If making in larger quantity then, make in batches. 2nd batch onwards may take 2 - 3 minutes lesser than the 1st batch since it's already hot. All air fryers are different. Timing may vary by 2 - 3 minutes depending on the size and type of air fryer as well as the potato types.
Air Fryer Potato Wedges
Equipment
- 1 Air Fryer
- Oil Spray optional
- 1 MIxing Bowl
- 1 Colander
- 1 Chopping Board
Ingredients
- 1 lb potatoes
- 1½ tsp seasoning mix or 1/2 tsp salt + 1/4 tsp black pepper + 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper + 1/2 tsp garlic powder + 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1½ tsp olive oil or avocado oil
- 2 - 3 cup ice or chilled water
Instructions
- Wash and clean the potatoes nicely removing all dirt.
- Cut the potato into wedges of equal size.
- Place the wedges into a colander and wash once or twice till you get the clear water.
- Place them in a large mixing bowl and fill it with iced water.
- Let it rest for 20 - 30 minutes.
- Then remove the water and take out the potatoes.
- Place the potatoes on a kitchen towel and wipe dry with help of a paper napkin or clean kitchen towel.
- Then place the wedges in a dry bowl and sprinkle the seasoning followed by drizzle of little oil over them.
- Mix it all thoroughly.
- In the meanwhile, preheat the air fryer at 400 F for 4 minutes.
- Transfer the potatoes into the air fryer basket.
- Start the air fryer at 400 F (200 C) for 15 minutes.
- Pause in the halfway at 7 minutes and shake the wedges once.
- Check again at 12 minutes and then take out at 14 - 15 minutes when they reach the desired doneness.
- Serve hot with any of your favorite dips.
